Whole in one (1997) Referring to memory in
general and especially at an historical site always
means one has to oscillate between destruction and
construction. The invitation to make an
installation for Schloss Ringenberg in Germany
almost automatically led to this work that plays
with these notions.
Regarding that it is not a real crack in the glass but a doubled artificial one questions the process of translation (or translocation) of 'facts' into history.
The holes can be seen as a representation of this doubling in the discourse of history. The pun in the title of the installation refers to the tendency to present the past as a whole.
